Many people not familiar with cosmetic dentistry were surprised at the results of a recent nationwide poll by Harris Interactive commissioned by RealSelf.com.2,227 people were polled, and of those who were interested in cosmetic surgery, 52% were interested in teeth whitening, which was the highest percentage for any procedure. Tied for second with 29% were tummy tucks and liposuction, followed by hair removal at 25%. Botox, formerly thought to be the king of all things cosmetic, ranked at only 6%.
People can have a need for teeth whitening if they simply enjoy things like red wine, coffee, and juices. Even normal aging with great overall health can create tooth discoloration.
